| make-yourself-a-camera |
[08 Dec 2008|11:41am] |
The design geniuses at FWIS have created a series of Pinhole Cameras for World Pinhole Camera Day. The greatest part is that the cameras are available at Corbis as downloadable PDF’s - so you just print them off your printer, and assemble your very own, functioning, pinhole camera!!! Did I mention they look stunning? Take a look at the four other cameras after the jump! Go make yourself a camera! I found this over at the amazing Mint blog.

Digam alguma coisa =)

| Why TASCHEN kicks ass |
[15 Nov 2008|01:54pm] |
Sometime in the early late 80's, early 90's I saw a PBS Frontline special about Art in America and the controversy regarding Jessie Helms and the funding of the National Endowment for the Arts. At the time I was taking some of my first pictures, still using a shit 110mm camera with a Reader's Digest logo on it. I clearly remember switching channels and all of a sudden having before me Andres Serrano's Immersion series which include Piss Christ. Serrano's work is probably one of my greatest, humblest influences and to this day I look to it for reference, inspiration and motivation. For many years I have tried to acquire his books, prints and portfolios but alas, the rarity of the books made them unobtainable as well as expensive. In comes TASCHEN.
AMERICA gathers all of his most important work. The book was published in 2004 and due to constant sell outs, I have been having lots of trouble finding it, until yesterday.

It was not terribly expensive and it is huge(38x28 - A3). I cannot possibly recommend a better Christmas gift to a Photographer.
